the way we write our meta is the way we write our fiction.

it's just that the themes hidden in the stories (those universal ones that are in there whether conscioulsy or unconsciously on thw writer's part) are then the same that way more consciously the same writer discusses and argues when writing meta. :)

? if you havd to write meta about John, what would you write?

I... have no idea? I don't GET meta *g*.

Give me question, like, "Why doesn't Jon like to wear underwear", and I'll answer you. But... is that what you mean?

*tickles you*
Meta is..well, for one, a fannish word. Analysis of the motivations, characteristics, setting, inner demons of your character, or angels ;)
The character's reactions to his surroundings, and why those reactions and not others...all of that is meta.
So...Meta about Jon? ;)

..still no idea!

I want direct questions! I can't just... sit down and write "meta" about Jon.

Like... okay, I might write in a thread and the pup does something unexpected (like topping Dean ;) then I'd sit back and think just why the heck he just did that...

it's the same thing, only, yes, you sit down, look at your pup, and start analysing him in one single (long or short) essay. You have to freeze your character(characters/show/situation) ina given moment, and see his/her instincts, those acting and those that are suppressed, and analyse his actions.
*wants Jon meta*

You know, you could ask for some from more pups on S_T (with links in comments) ;)

*nudge*

And... example? I still don't quite get it *laughs*. *feels dumb*
Guess that's why I'm not in any meta comms ;)

Absolutely, and on more than one level. ::looks at monster metas, then opens Word and looks at monster WIP:: Yep, definitely on more than one level *g*

But I think it's just normal. Meta is used to write down your thoughts and ideas, so of course you'll include at least part of it in your ficton as well...
