It's going to be a MotW type of film, nothing to do with the Conspiracy storylines :(
Aka, no Krycek. :(

What a waste, to film in Vancouver and go for the MotW option. It'll be just another sci-fi horror film, of a sort.

That is what I had heard as well. I don't know though - I think a MotW (or should that be MotM) works for that sort of thing. I think the first film lost out because it was myth arc and confusing even if you knew the myth arc. Of course it didn't have our lovely ratboy in either.

But then I think what they need to do at this point is a spin-off series with Krycek running a extra-government, alien resistence group - sort of X-Files does Torchwood only with nastier aliens. I suspect I might be biased *eg*

They should ret-con (Krycek was cloned or something, so, no dead!Krycek, thank you very much) and yes, have him running an alien-resistence group...they could still have the MotM thing. *pouts*

Who needs retcon - it was all a trick. If Alex had really got shot in the head there would have been much more splatter (unless Skinner was shooting something really wussy). There wasn't, therefore it can't have happened. QED

Alex was probably standing in the shadows watching and deciding not to fry Skinner for trying to kill him because he needed to drop out of sight for a while anyway (and start the resistence group for when Mulder accidently managed to kick-start the invasion). *Nods*

And yes, THEY ARE JUST THERE! Even a cameo in the shadow would be fantastic. Better than nothing. A nod to the fans, you know?

...better a MotW movie than that they mess up already plot-hole filled mytharc of the XF, IMHO. And MOtW means less shippy stuff (or so I hope). No Scully's babies and such stuff.

To make a mytharc movie they'd need to acquaint the audience with the major points of the general XF mytharc, and then they'd need a 4hr long film, at least. ;)

Bah. Curses. I was really hoping Krycek would end up in this one. I was a huge X-Phile back in the day, saw the first movie in the theatres and everything, but ultimately found it fairly disappointing because they cut the cast down so much. Bah! Give us our Ratboy, people! *shakes fist*

I never was a huge XFiles fan back then, I liked it but catching an ep on the telly was a nightmare (besides, the dubbing voices were all wrong!)...I liked the film enough, but yes, this time round, I'm finally burning with Ratboy-induced passion and I think they should think about it seriously before excluding him.
