FILM: PS I Love You
Dec. 11th, 2007 11:36 pmAH!
I read the book, and the film made some changes that, uhm...the book isn't a masterpiece of literature, but has a certain 'core', and I think the changes made in the film have lost this 'core' (mainly, the female character's qualities, and we shall insert here a long rant about the portrayal of female characters in American cinema that I will spare you this time).
But the important thing, and the reasons why this film is worth watching
1) Jeff does a VERY decent Irish accent. Okay, only an Irish person can tell how decent it is, but to my ears, he pulled it off beautifully. Much better than Gerard Butler, lovable rascal that he is, because you can't take the Scot away from the man, I suppose *G*
2) A FULL NAKED-FROM-HEAD-TO-TOES BACK. The man has a very fine ass. And thighs. And shoulders. And calves. And so on. And it's relatively long, as a shot, more than I expected.
A VERY FINE ASS, really. I feel a bit dirty and perverted but hey, all the actresses and such on the screen and magazine covers are half naked for the viewers perusal, so the same goes for men, I say.
JDM's character is lovable, his part isn't as long as I hoped, but cool enough. He's sweet and charming and endearing. *nods*
3) Gerard Butler is adorable and sexy and funny as always.
4) Dean winters is in the film too! Very short part, but it was great to see him.
5) James Marsters has a shortish part too, and it's SO weird to hear him talk American, and lacking his Billy Idol-blond hair!
6) Lisa Kudrow is funny and cute as always.
7) Gina Gershow is as sexy and as gorgeous as always.
8) JEFF HAS A VERY FINE ASS!
9) Hilary Swank is a kick ass actress, but truly, she needs to put on a few pounds. It doesn't look she needs it in the film, because the camera does add a size and a half, average, but look at her face, she's just too..excavated. (Yes, I know it's not the right word, but did I mention JDM's gorgeous looking back of thighs? I'm not exactly in the full posses of my mental faculties, atm. Let's say my downstairs brain is doing overtime *G*)
The film is rom-com, decently filmed, nicely acted, a bit sad in parts, funny in others, but...*shrugs* with all the problems of a typical rom-com (aimless, powerless women that can't live without a man, basically).
JDM rocked. Hard. And naked, while rocking. He plays the guitar for a little while, but he doesn't sing (when he starts singing, he sings a song that Butler sang previously and thus we see the flashback, with Butler singing, not Jeff). It's a good part for him, a good start. Now, for Accidental Husband.
Did I mention Mr. Morgan looks very fine all fresh for a shower and all naked from behind? *G* Momma Morgan has done a great job, thank you!
Can't wait to get my paws on a clip of this film. *nods* I'm shallow that way.
Also, McConnick (sp?) was in the film too, and he was good, but I think they shortened his part in comparison with the book and..it didn't work out that well.
So, in short: book better than the film, film worth watching if you like rom-coms, but especially a must if you have a soft spot for Mr. Butler and Mr. Morgan.
Now, excuse me, but I got meds to swallow and nose to blow andpervy thoughts of JDM naked other stuff to do.

Date: 2007-12-12 11:24 am (UTC)The film should be out in a few days, I think. All I want now is a dvd release and the chance to clip, and pause, and rewind, and pause, and rewind, and pause....*G*
