No wonders Bobby pulled a shotgun on John, at some point.
Bobby is all for the 'study and plan and wait and pick your moment' tactic - after all, he's the one with a house, and one full of books, at that.

John is a Marine through and through: attack first.
Travel to where trouble is.
Enter the vampires' lair as they sleep. "Actually, that's the plan." (DMB)

These two men couldn't be more different in their approach.

Ah, stubborn, dare-devil John cheers me up a lot. :)

ETA: I love the brothers face-to-face at the end of this episode. Sam turning on Dean, telling him off for doing to him what John did to Dean, reminding Dean how he felt about that particular deal. And Dean accepting that, yes, it's selfish and saying that he's ENTITLED to it, after all he's done for this family. So, broken!Dean who has NO self-worth? It never convinced me, and it does even less now.

I love going back through the eps after a little while, because new things always pop up - in the sense, things I haven't paid enough attention the first time round ;)

I think even people with the lowest self-esteen have moments of clarity that they're getting a bad deal out of life. It doesn't make them feel better about themselves, but if they're not stupid they do resent being someone else's tool and being continually crapped on.

This is what I think of Dean this season. He has one year left. And he spent 28 years being crapped on. It would make anybody resentful, especially because I don't think he's broken despite feeling worthless.
