Jan. 30th, 2008 07:48 pmThere's a handful more I'd like to post/share, but I need to scan them first.
Might be graphic-heavy,
ME! BABY!
(and no, I don't have a mole on my nose, lol. I need to clean these up ;)

There's an anecdote with this one. According to my mum, this was taken the same day in which I crossed over to a nearby boat, where my mum found me all intent in teaching some Japanese tourists to count in Italian, with the aid of my three fingers and the encouraging teaching method of: "No, non capissi nente, tupido." (Baby talk for: "You don't understand nothing, 'tupid.")
Erm.
I am assured I was a very charming child. Mah.

My & Sis (I am the short one. Annoyingly, I still am, though luckily not by the same difference!)

Italian Carnival, me dressed as a 'giullare di corte', a Court Jester. I think I'm 5-ish, but not sure.

Another Carnival, another costume *G* This was actually bought in China during a work trip by my father. I think I'm 6-ish

Me & Mia (lovely cat who was last seen, after several years of happy living with us, trotting away in the far distancve in the country with a big white tom-cat...feline eloping?)

My puppy fat & Panna, who's been the doggy love of my like, we've grown up together and shared a lot. She died of old age, still trotting after my mother. A dog born without tail, so she would shake her bum instead of wagging her tail, and the golden heart of a saint. She's tolerated more than one cat during her long life, faced ferocious bunnies, carefully held in her mouth and then quickly spat out juicy yummi chicks...with the most innocent expression ever: "What? I didn't hurt them!"
Eh. I have tons of memories of Panna. Still dream about her.

Panna again :)

Baby me! Look at baby me!
And me & sis on the day of her wedding. (Well, it's good to remember she was happy then).

My favourite pic of my mum when she was young (should have been closely before her married years, so in her early twenties).

One cringe-worthy pic for your amusement...but I LOVED (and still do) that hair-do. So there. (and yes, I lost my blonde growing up. It still comes out if I spend some time in the summer sun, but it turned light brown around my 9/10 y.)

Date: 2008-01-30 08:39 pm (UTC)The last one... I had almost the same hair cut, just asymetrically bobbed on the not shaved side...gotta love the '80s!
Panna was beautiful, so friendly looking.
I love the Carnival photos, my sister is in Venice right now and keeps sending me photos of all the kids dressed up.

Oh, the Carnival in Venice is something special, really. Have been once quickly, always wanted to go back properly.
Panna was :D Very friendly. Once, she was on heat and this dog kept trying to loest her, so she defended herself (she only ever loved one dog, who was older and didn't care for her) (and then she was loved for years, I swear, by the dog of the pizzeria at the corner, who would do EVERYTHING to get close to her. We found him in front of our fourth floor apartment's door many times!); my father separated the dogs, and accidentally Panna bit him on the calf - small bite, nothing major. But she was SO upset about it. She kept fussing over him and his lef for days, and treating him especially :D

Date: 2008-01-31 11:31 am (UTC)Nice to browse through memory lane, now and then. We had so many pets. Once, even an owl, a young one that fell through the chimney (in Rome, old building, my father insisted for having one, bless him).
And hamsters (those were mine), and fish (still have them)(well, not the same fish, obviously!) and a tortoise!
Lucrezia, who chose freedom when we took her to the country, and whose traces were visible (she likes strawberries, the little rascal) until a handful of years ago, which would made her having reached at least 18 yo. which is a decent age for her breed.
/rambling ;)
