SPN 4.18: quick thought
Apr. 3rd, 2009 08:11 pmJust one quick thought because I need to rewatch the ep before I can put down proper meta, but...
I have just skimmed some on the meta/reactions on my f-list, BUT. Am I the only one not seeing Castiel rebelling at all (even though he was exceedingly cute anyway), but simply finding a way to NOT disobey while at the same time KEEPING DEAN ON THEIR SIDE?
Castiel didn't volunteer the archangel/prophet information until after Dean's threat/promise "If you don't help me now, when your turn comes, see if I am running..." (paraphrased but oh Dean, you are SO good).
So, yes, Castiel found a way to help Dean. But in as much as he likes Dean and inasmuch as Castiel is starting to question some of his directives...he didn't rebel. I can't see the information being given ONLY AFTER Dean's promise as rebelling. I am not saying Castiel isn't happy doing it, but in his SPN angelic way, if Dean hadn't threatened not responding to God's call when the time arrived...would Castiel have helped him all the same?
We can't know. But the evidence of Castiel only reacting to Dean's threat is on screen.
Opinions?
