As a reminder, having your lunch while watching House can result in contrasting sensations between what your eyes see and what your stomach feels like, and no, polka dancing tummy is not a good feeling...I feel chatty, you all, bear with me :)
It's a lovely day outside, sunny enough but with the autumn chill that makes you relish taking out that scarf you haven't seen in a few months, or the comfy and cosy jumper you always wear at home, the one with extra long sleeves and the beginning of a hole on the side, oh, and the cosy chuncky socks, too, of course. I love my new ones, they are dusty mauve and sooo soft :)
Thesis work is going better than it has in ...years, dammit. Stressing of course, so much at stake and so much to prove, but happily so. My supervisor told me yesterday that in fact, once I finish, mine would be a significant contribution to the field, which makes me quite happy...and stresses me even more, LOL
But, I suppose, the main point is that I am enjoying it once again, and it's been a long time. It's a good feeling, to have that kind of motivation again. I was never one for social hyerarchy (sp?), so to speak, and when I'm told "oh, but if you finish, you'll be a doctor, you'll have those three letters on your card" etc etc...well..it doesn't mean much to me! Or better, it just mean that I have been fortunate in some things, and apid myself to others while still seeking what is really meaningful to me. maybe I should start to look at it as a really important achievement, but apart from it being a chance to say mine on the topic...I don't really see it. It's not as if I see myself having a proper academic career, to be honest. Perhaps I will, but I'd rather paint for a living. And write.
Still, it's a chance for watching Laramie, The Quest, Alias Smith & Jones (and I will have to sneak in M7, won't I? ;) as research.
I guess I will never grow up, uh? ;)
I am so excited about new
SPN starting today. Won't see it for a while, but the excitement pervading the majority of my f-list is tangible and contagious. I will catch up at some point, it's just...a different experience, SPN is the first fandom I got involved in that was/is airing in RealTime, so to speak. An airing show's fandom's dynamic and liveness is amazing :)
In other news,
knitting is a great stress relief, and it matches beautifully with the on-going and never ending inconclusivity (is that a word in English?) of academic work: the tactile sensation of the yarn, the click-clack of the needles, and seeing your project growing and taking shape under your eyes (when you DO understand the impossible jargon of some patterns, that is, and when you just decide to follow your instinct and go 'more or less, it should be this long'...erm...*G* I never said I was a GOOD knitter, lol)...I like it. My grandmother taught me the basics, years and years ago.
Which reminds me, I have a lovely Sirdar CLICK yarn in dusky rose, but can't find any pattern that I like, if you can point me in interesting directions, thank you :)
The latest fantastic ways of
procrastination (it's an
art, it needs practicing!):
the Dragon Cave (I have posted my dragons eggs and my first hatchling, Liquerizia, and now I have another one: Rotolo! Although I worry so much about them that I don't know how long I can go on playing it)
and
MyDeco...I tell you...hours and hours of playtime, making rooms and furnishing them and... Ops. :D
I have to clean and tidy the house today (done some, but booooored), and an inbox that's up to 100 unnswered emails/comments (eeek) and I'll babysit later tonight (yay! :)...have a good day everyone, and a good weekend!
