Headachey.
Missing kiltboy.
Struggling with decisions (I always want to do everything, lol).
Knitting scarf for niece.

Anyway.

Recently watched:

Inkheart: reading the book now, to see how it compares to the film. The film was pleasant, couple of entertaining hours, Paul Bettany's character (Dustfingers) was eminently lickable and the slash inclined among us would have no problems in finding subtext to play with, between him and Silvertongue/Mo (Brendan Fraser) and even the Very Evil Capricorn, aka Andy Serkis in brilliant form.

Transformers: I gave up after a hour of film and dozed off, sorry. I liked the big 'bots lots and would be happy to read human/'bot combos and variations, but was headachey already and so...(alos liked whatshisname from TV series Vegas, btw).

Ong-Bak: coool. Basic revenge story, but lots and lots of crazy martial arts fighting. Great fun *nods*

If I were up to it, I'd organize a Krycek-fest. Been wanting one for a while. Anyone willing/interested in participating/organizing/providing ideas?

ETA forgot! and yet it did make a BIG impression: Way of the Gun (with Benicio Del Toro and Ryan Philippe)...ohhh, the subtext there! A sort of modern remake of Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid, in more ways than one, with a great James Caan too! One I will want to rewatch :)

As a reminder, having your lunch while watching House can result in contrasting sensations between what your eyes see and what your stomach feels like, and no, polka dancing tummy is not a good feeling...I feel chatty, you all, bear with me :)

It's a lovely day outside, sunny enough but with the autumn chill that makes you relish taking out that scarf you haven't seen in a few months, or the comfy and cosy jumper you always wear at home, the one with extra long sleeves and the beginning of a hole on the side, oh, and the cosy chuncky socks, too, of course. I love my new ones, they are dusty mauve and sooo soft :)

Thesis work
is going better than it has in ...years, dammit. Stressing of course, so much at stake and so much to prove, but happily so. My supervisor told me yesterday that in fact, once I finish, mine would be a significant contribution to the field, which makes me quite happy...and stresses me even more, LOL
But, I suppose, the main point is that I am enjoying it once again, and it's been a long time. It's a good feeling, to have that kind of motivation again. I was never one for social hyerarchy (sp?), so to speak, and when I'm told "oh, but if you finish, you'll be a doctor, you'll have those three letters on your card" etc etc...well..it doesn't mean much to me! Or better, it just mean that I have been fortunate in some things, and apid myself to others while still seeking what is really meaningful to me. maybe I should start to look at it as a really important achievement, but apart from it being a chance to say mine on the topic...I don't really see it. It's not as if I see myself having a proper academic career, to be honest. Perhaps I will, but I'd rather paint for a living. And write.
Still, it's a chance for watching Laramie, The Quest, Alias Smith & Jones (and I will have to sneak in M7, won't I? ;) as research.

I guess I will never grow up, uh? ;)

I am so excited about new SPN starting today. Won't see it for a while, but the excitement pervading the majority of my f-list is tangible and contagious. I will catch up at some point, it's just...a different experience, SPN is the first fandom I got involved in that was/is airing in RealTime, so to speak. An airing show's fandom's dynamic and liveness is amazing :)

In other news, knitting is a great stress relief, and it matches beautifully with the on-going and never ending inconclusivity  (is that a word in English?) of academic work: the tactile sensation of the yarn, the click-clack of the needles, and seeing your project growing and taking shape under your eyes (when you DO understand the impossible jargon of some patterns, that is, and when you just decide to follow your instinct and go 'more or less, it should be this long'...erm...*G* I never said I was a GOOD knitter, lol)...I like it. My grandmother taught me the basics, years and years ago.
Which reminds me, I have a lovely Sirdar CLICK yarn in dusky rose, but can't find any pattern that I like, if you can point me in interesting directions, thank you :)

The latest fantastic ways of procrastination (it's an art, it needs practicing!):
the Dragon Cave (I have posted my dragons eggs and my first hatchling, Liquerizia, and now I have another one: Rotolo! Although I worry so much about them that I don't know how long I can go on playing it)

and MyDeco...I tell you...hours and hours of playtime, making rooms and furnishing them and... Ops. :D

I have to clean and tidy the house today (done some, but booooored), and an inbox that's up to 100 unnswered emails/comments (eeek) and I'll babysit later tonight (yay! :)...have a good day everyone, and a good weekend!

And I'm the cat, obviously
..will someone have pity on me and point me to this Jason Manns' posting defence of the price for the single he produced (with him and Jensen singing?)
Pretty please?
I keep seeing it mentioned and can't find it.

RL
Ion, I'll be in Italy from the 8th to the 15th.
Watch me flying.
Watch me stressing.
A dragon would make it all much bearable...have to wait till July for the next Temeraire book!

The story is HERE.

Also!

Why Fandom makes RL bearable

-I spent a lovely Sunday lunch and afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] elizabethoshea and [livejournal.com profile] msmoat a few weeks ago: there was Pros fangirling, writing (fan)fiction pondering, RL chatting and overall I had a splendid time with two of my dearest friends whom I'd have never met if not for Pros and fandom - and [livejournal.com profile] elizabethoshea cooks a gorgeous lunch, I tell you! It was wonderful to see you both :D *hugs you*

-A month ago I went to Edinburgh for the 10th anniversary of the Marcus Testory Appreciation Society, and I had a grand time. I have notes for a con/meet report, maybe I'll get round to write it eventually! *waves to [livejournal.com profile] franzi1981* Always great to see you, dear :)

-The Milton Keynes SPN convention was brilliant too. Again, I do have notes for a con report, but, erm...maybe one day (next year???) I'll be able to write it down coherently. A great time was had by all, and there was fangirling: lovely to meet more of you UKers! (and a few from Europe as well!) Looking forward to next year's UK SPN con :D

- I finished my very own first knitting project! I'm looking forward to start my second and third, chose the patterns alrready, need to buy the yarn. Crappy knitter here, but it's fun and I enjoy it and it's been very soothing in these stressing past weeks. (okay, not fandom-related, but randomness, yes?)

-I have stuff to finish making for people (graphics for SC, burning copies of TV shows etc), I'll get to it asap.

And last but not least:
a HUGE round of applause for [livejournal.com profile] doccy, please!

I bought [livejournal.com profile] doccy's mad cookie-making skillz for the extra Sweet Charity auction, and the cookies were PLENTY, DELICIOUS, and were DEVOURED by the household in the turn of a couple of days! I'll be first in line if he decides to offer his cookie-making skillz again *nods* :D I've been told there are pics of the cookie-making Adventure...me, I didn't stop munching for long enough to actually take pics. Erm. Sorry!
