What Really Happened 2.0, or How Aziraphale Learned to Stop Worrying and Start Loving the Porn, by
violet_quillEveryone should read Good Omens (it should be on the school curriculum, imo), but even if you haven't, that above is just damn funny. And yes, there should be a lot more angel/demon smut *G*
I had totally forgotten that I had a Journalfen, opened in 2004 when I wanted to join The Establishment RPWriting game, then RL and Theatrical Muse sucked me in and I had to make a choice, and there simply was not enough time/dedication for me to play in The Est....
Which means, I also have a journalfen account!
Always phantomas :D
(crossposting to all the journals because Semagic is that cool *G*)
Just to make it clear...I'm not going anywhere NOW.
I'll follow the developments (no, I'm not happy with the way LJ is applying its TOS) and move when all the fandom moves (eventually, it'll happen, just like a big part of fandom moved to LJ from email lists a few years ago)...wheee!
I'm all journaled-out, now :D

By following the instructions in this entry by
brown_betty, I have backed-up my LJ entries (all 892 of them!) on both Insane Journal and Greatest Journal with LJ-SEC (maybe a hour in all). Only the entries have been backed up, as far I can see, with the original privacy setting (f-locked, private, public, etc). The comments, tags, mood, etc are NOT backed up, but entries are.
I've also saved my LJ content to my HD (entries AND comments) with LJArchive.
I previously did it with LJBOOK (saves the whole LJ as a PDF file) as well.
I'm all backed up.
Now, I hope that
fanarchive and
fandom_flies will work out (a fan-organized/mantained archive and a fan-organized blog/journal network). *fingers crossed* I'm not in a position to help out at the moment, but I'm watching both comms and following their development.
(email and comments reply later, sorry)

How to update your back up journals (insane, great, dead, etc) very simply with SEMAGIC, posted by
snapetoy
I encountered an error and solved it via a comment posted to the entry - my error was "Client error: no username sent" and this comment by
mieronna provided the solution.
Again, it's very simple and quick, a way to have your log-ins to the various journal sites all available at the Semagic log-in and a way to cross post easily to Insane/GreatJ etc.
And yes, Semagic is useful, a free client to use on your own pc, info and download links here - I know many just use the LJ entry page to post and such, but I've always found semagic much more user-friendly, with lots of nice buttons that I can push and will do things for me ;)

let's see if we can really flock away all together in a fan-created space. hope so (fandom_flies works alongside fanarchive, btw, two different aims: fan-blogging and fan-archiving).
sorry for the briefness, doctors to see, one hand typing annoys me, etc etc I'll get to email/comments in the evening.

writing and responsibility
Jun. 17th, 2007 04:05 pmNot to re-ash the whole thing, but I stumbled upon this entry by
savageseraph on writing and responsibility, and I think it's worth reading. Most importantly, Klavan's article linked and quoted in
savageseraph's entry hits the point in the best possible way.
photoshop/LJ layout related question
Jun. 3rd, 2007 01:40 amUhm, okay.
I played around with my layout..then I vaguely remembered something about SLICES in photoshop and went "YAY, I'll make slices for my art and
put it up and have all the links to recent entries, archive, user info, etc in the art image!*
I conquered the slices part of that in photoshop, but, uh..something between the saving and uploading doesn't work. I looked into Photoshop help and it wasn't really helpful...
Can I still save the art pic as a jpg even with the slices, or...? In what format should the sliced image be saved (I only get an HTML file...do I have to face a CSS sheet and the custom option in the LJ customize panel?)
Am I trying to climb the Himalaya with a snowboard?
Any help is appreciated, point me in the right direction and I'll do the rest! Pretty please? *smiles prettily*

I'm enjoing the sun in the garden and utterly despairing of ever doing some work...but in the mean time,

LJ apologies...uhm.
May. 31st, 2007 12:04 pmI posted the following comment to the apology issued by LJ, HERE.
( Read more... )
I wrote this in a comment to a friend, and it suddenly focused my problem:
What worries me is the leverage that WFI have found and used, and how LJ has caved in and messily so.
If such a report (of journals soliciting criminal activites) is made, shouldn't LJ quietly investigate first, then if cause for concern is found, report to the proper law enforcement group? In order, you know, to actually apprehend criminals and not just send them underground?
excerpt from an IM conversation posted HERE. Bold mine.
Note:
anildash works for 6A and has been as collaborative and responsive as it was feasible, and coming across as genuinely sorry about the whole mess.
03:29 : anildash: basicallyb
03:29 : anildash: ecause the other side
03:29 : anildash: was the WFI types
03:29 : anildash: saying "they've never clearly said they don't want to host pedophiles!"
03:29 : anildash: you know?
03:29 : anildash: so either we get: Six Apart Hates Free Speech!
03:29 : daisy_chan: I understand that
03:29 : anildash: or: Six Apart Loves Pedophiles!
03:29 : anildash: and both of those really suck

TEMPORARY NEW LAYOUT
Nov. 16th, 2006 11:05 pmUntil I have the time to find a layout I really like (one with lots of boxes in the side bars! and a sidebar where I can put icons I like and links and and and my tags and quotes and STUFF!!!) and whose colors I can play around with and the time to make myself a header etc etc.
Most of those I've seen play around with colors but that's not what I'm looking for, I want a customisable one (is that the right word or did I made it up?).
Any pointers in the direction of a sidebar/sidebar layout/template with all that and v. little coding will be VERY welcome!
And thank you again to the generous LJ Fairy that has given me the gift certificate/s :)
Who knows, I may even *GASPS* use MORE than one ICON!
But seriously, since I'm on the topic...I feel, always felt as if my icon is my identity, my personality. I love seeing all the different icons around, and I have come to recognise some people simply by the style of the icons they use, or just automatically memorizing their icons or layouts...but for me, whereas the layout/headers can change, like clothing, my icon is...my identity. Integral part of my on-line personality. Silly, possibly, I know, but it really feels like that to me.
So, these lots of icons thing...I'll have to see about that *G* or make myself enough icons tht I am comfortable with (and use finally some of those made for me by the lovely and very talented
foxestacado :D )
In other news..it's Thursday! *G*

LJ and FILM: The Departed
Oct. 12th, 2006 10:31 pmA couple of weeks ago I received a gift certificate from an anonymous kind soul. I'd like to say that I've used the gift certificate, after some debate with myself, for
papawinchester instead of my personal journal - I hope it's okay, and once again, I'm so very grateful for this unexpected gift, thank you :)
~~~
As always, when in a crisis, I resolve it by hiding in front of a screen, and immerging myself in someone else's troubles. This time, I was dragged to watch The Departed.
( The Departed, thoughts and comments )
And it's Thursday :D
New SPN episode, today.
