Of interest to my Pros fellow fans..

Mr. Shaw's stalker gets sentence

And it's not the first time Martin gets stalked, I remember there was a woman some years ago, who managed to get Martin's mail re-redirected to her address, or some such. The burden of celebrity, I suppose...although non-celebs get stalkers too (only usually it's men, and they end up killing, but that's a rant for another day).

Off to do stuff. :D

Today, tonight, I will write something. Even if just a drabble. Dammit, I so will.
If there are requests, I am game. Ask and you shall receive (het, gen, slash, even furries).

ETA: drabbles and some such in the comments replies :)

Can't conceive of not having it as mobile ringtone...anyone willing to point me at a downloadable file of The Pros theme?
pretty please?

ETA: Got it, o'wonderful flist! Thank you! :)
phantomas: (not dead 'm writing)
I'm gearing up to start writing Pros again (in a fannish and academic way both), so...here goes.

Give me one of my own stories, and a time stamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or in the past before it started, and I'll write at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

As I'm rushing to finish a Pros story I promised loooong ago (I'm working on it, I am!), I discovered a plotted Pros story I have completely forgotten and apparently started sometime around last year's June...
phantomas: *looks at Self*
Self: ...sowwy?
phantomas: you should be ashamed! Forgetting fiction? Shame on you!
Self:...sowwy?
phantomas: *headdesks*

So. Uhm. Pros fic. I iz working on it. :)

Also, I'm leaving for Italy on Sunday night, will be back the second week of September (can't remember the day atm), might have SOME access *crosses fingers* but not sure, so, please, do misbehave so that I'll have lots to read about when I come back *nods*

ZebraCon 18 will probably be the last ZebraCon for the time being (the organizers say never say never, but this is ZebraCon 18...18 years of convention organizing take a toll out of one, I bet).

ZebraCon will be held on September 14-16, 2007.

I've updated my The Professionals: an Overview entry over on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van and OMG I can't believe I wrote that in 2003!

Anyway, if any of you Pros f-listers is willing to give it a look and tell me if I'm missing something (groups, LJs, websites, etc) , I'd be most grateful :D

Sure, if Pros had a weekly newsletter, it'd be great...
*sits on her hands, VERY firmly*
*looks pointedly at younger, stronger Pros fans*

ETA: The Professionals are also still up for grabs at the NEWBIE GUIDE TO FANDOM ON LJ, a reference tool for those who are new (and maybe not-so-new, too) to LiveJournal as a forum for fannish interaction. Any volunteer? Pretty please? You only have to compile a list of the active PROS LJ communities, and keep it updated...easy peasy! *makes puppy eyes*
ETA ADDENDUM: I've been told that [livejournal.com profile] mab_browne has volunteered for the PROS NEWBIE GUIDE ON LJ at the Newbie Guide. YAY!

*scuttles away ashamed to realize she doesn't have Pros icons!*

Day two of The Pros Slash Proliferation Challenge

FIRST OFFERING

From the Media Cannibals, originally made in 1997 ca. and remastered by [livejournal.com profile] justacat in 2006, a songvid: Detachable Penis.

The song is from King Missile (you'll find the lyrics in the page linked) and this is a songvid that any slash fan can enjoy, whether they are Pros fans or not. It's such a great union between (ironic) lyrics and images, the perfect choice of clips, and a clever and intelligent meta-commentary in so many ways, about the Fallus, and what people (men) do with it, how fans play with it.
It's a milestone in vidding, imo, and in Pros vidding. Enjoy :D

SECOND OFFERING

Another double drabble, another genre. *cough*
Pros double drabble here )

Day one of The Pros Slash Proliferation Challenge

FIRST OFFERING
From: Suitable Gravity, by DVS - one of my most favourite Pros novels, SCI-FI AU

Bodie picked up a shrimp-shaped bit of vegiform. "Open wide, my petal," he teased, and brought it towards Doyle's mouth.
"Only," Doyle told him, sotto voce, "if you want me to bite off your fingers."Read more... )

SECOND OFFERING
I was hit by a fancy, and I'm writing a drabble (or double drabble) for each day, with the aim of covering each day a different genre in the fandom; possibly/hopefully some of those I've never written before.

Pros double drabble here )

Wheee!

Two good news today:

1) *points at latest entry/news on [livejournal.com profile] papawinchester (also posted on [livejournal.com profile] jdmorgan)* Enough said *G*

2) I'm editing a Pros story of mine that will go in the next Roses & Lavender (#6)! YAY!
The story was written a couple of years ago or so, so I'm quite excited about working on it again, with the distance and the experience I've acquired in the meantime. And yes, the Pros-fu is still STRONG in me!

Plus, I'm all thinky about SPN. Meta incoming *nodnod*

No confirmation of Asylum ticket yet...*taps fingers on desk*

Remastered and uploaded to the Circuit Archive (link in the sidebar):
Detachable Penis

by the Media Cannibals (Sandy, Alex, [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r, Tina, & Rache)
song by King Missile
originally made in 1997
remastered by [livejournal.com profile] justacat

This is a fandom masterpiece. Cracktastic, intelligent, and so very Pros.

As always, thank you SO much to [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r and [livejournal.com profile] justacat for working on moving these (classic) songvids into digital format.

The Hatstand, a Professionals archive and resource website (and what resources, there's everything, there, from characters sheets to wav files!) has uploaded today SUITABLE GRAVITY, which I would like you all to go and read when you have the time.
It doesn't really matter whether you're Pros fans or not; the story is an AU and it reads by itself, you don't need to know anything about Pros in order to read it. Why Im STRONGLY advising you to read it? Because I love it. It's decent sci-fi, it's got plot, it's got damn hot sex, and two characters made for each other. There's romance, adventure, contrast, passion, righteousness...what have you.
I'm probably pimping it too much, which is something I rarely do because it could create too much expectation - rarely reality comes close to expectations, which is why, imo, usually internet dating and spoilers alike rarely work ;)
BUT...it's a good solid slash story.
I hope you'll read it :D

SUITABLE GRAVITY

Note: no, I didn't write it, nor I know the author. In fact, Suitable Gravity seems so compact to be fanfiction that I always wondered whether it wasn't inspired to some film or another - there's a whole bunch of stories in Pros that are inspired to films/romance novels, etc: fanfiction remakes, if you like. In case you read it and think that you may know a possible source, do let me know! But really...it's a damn good story :)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] justacat and [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r, this wonderful, wonderful Pros songvid is now available for download at the Circuit Archive, HERE.
It's been digitally remastered and you'll find info about it on its page.

It's one of the best made, most 'screamingPros to me' songvids I've ever watched, and I love it.

Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] justacat and [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r for doing this - and I know they are planning to bring us more remastered versions of other Media Cannibals Pros songvids. Which is just fantastic.

Finally updated the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van The Professionals Overview.
I wrote that in 2003 :) ohmy.

Added the new Circuit Archive url, Ali's Recs site new URL, and also added the LJ Pros communities I'm aware of.
ETA: also edited the recs I did with the old Circuit Archive addy.

The rest seems to be okay. If there's anything else to add/change, let me know.
Ta ta :)
