So, not a poll but almost :)
Mar. 13th, 2009 12:25 amWhile waiting for my nose to stop bleeding due to the effing cold I have (my sneezing IZ ALL POWERFUL!), whereas I am in fact waiting for tomorrow to come so I can DL SPN, should I:
1-think more about house stuff (although, I have spent the afternoon emailing people for estimates and browsing for quotes, so it's been productive)
2-reply to those kind souls who have posted their advice (and it's been really HELPFUL, you are all wonderful to me, THANK YOU)
3-look at the 300plus emails/comments in my inbox and
a: cry
b: cry and feel guilty
c:try to reply to some
4-play alchemy on line
5-catch up with TSCC eps
6-rewatch the first eps of Leverage (the season finale was sort of so-so for me, Nathan's wife didn't convince me me, but I really enjoyed all the eps till those, so it doesn't count, and also, has it been renewed? I will go looking, because I HOPE SO VERY MUCH)
7-rewatch Life S2, because :)
8-...go sleep? (so boring and overrated, beside, lying down with nosebleed, not a good idea)

Stream of consciousness
Feb. 10th, 2009 03:12 pmI had a weird dream, not a nightmare, but an intense dream in which I was supposed to leave a motel room or something like that, but I didn't wake up on time, so the new occupant arrived and I had to finish packing, and packing...packing was never ending, there was stuff everywhere, lots of bags and rucksacks, tendentially smallish bit not only, some that I remember actually being or having been mine at some point, others unknown, but there was a place for everything, only stuff kept appearing from under the wardrobe, and the bed and from behind a sort of table/desk, my colours for paintings and my brushes (and somehow I think my mother found them and pointed them out to me, but she wasn't in the reast of the dream) then at some point my ex and an old friend in common appear, and they have come up (driving, all the way from Rome, and apparently I might have been in a place like Paris, but it wasn't stated anywhere), to help me get packed, old friend going back to wait in the car, new occupant of the room patiently waiting around or stretched on the bed, accepting sweets from me that I found and didn't feel like taking away with me...and ex getting distracted with some sort of exercise machinery that was in the room, trying to get it to work (typical of him)...and then the owner of the motel, turned into a woman from the the man he was before, when he had come to wake me up and free the room, came in to check on something and said that the new occupant was sueing her due to the room not being free...
...I think that's all, you never remember dreams properly unless you write them down striaght away, but it left me so aimless, so tense inside, like a chord vibrating, and the sky is so grey, so heavy..I should call home but I shy from it because it's always bad news, and for once I'd like to be the one wanted, the one in mind, not always second best, not always a transition, a substitute for else, don't want to be a bridge, want to be an island, a tower, a tree...Facebook can be upsetting, the enphasis on your identity, who you know, what school you've been, with whom, is RL like that really? And here, instead, where we don't know many faces, or they are not so important, and what we like or what we do is what and who we are, in part, never all, never whole, but creative and fun and ...more honest? more us? With all the kerfuffles and factions and ship wars and animosity, yet, still, better, so much better than the alternative... I don't know. The sky is so grey...

random and general update
Jan. 13th, 2009 10:32 pmWatched Fearless (2004, with Jet Li). Fun martial arts based on facts film.
Took male half of parental unit to Diabetes doctor. Took in info/guidelines/etc. Regurgitated the same to older brother and mother.
Talked with mother's doctor on phone. Uhm.
Played and look after cat (Zorro), who is getting used to life without Mimmi.
Spent time with mother reminiscing about war times, old songs and her trips with her father on the horse cart, when she was a child.
Perused houses on sale (on websites).
Getting geared up to go back to the UK. Browsing Flist :)
Realised that I will be able to see the new Supernatural ep on Friday and had a little shiver of pleasure...\o/

Just a quickie
Jan. 7th, 2009 01:50 pmStill 200plus messages in the inbox, still stuff to watch, BUT!
Have had proof of a Superior Architect at Work: my mum's physioterapist was clearly designed to please. I swear, if I had my phone charged, I would have taken pics. Tall dark and handsome, perfect thighs, perfect ass, shoulder span to die for, and also good looking and cute and handsome with it!
If anyone in Rome or passing by finds herself in need of a physioterapist (and he's also very good at his job, btw), let me know and I'll pass the addy around.
I may be shallow, but wow. Works of art like that should be appreciated. :D

Films and stuff
Dec. 27th, 2008 08:30 pmHeadachey.
Missing kiltboy.
Struggling with decisions (I always want to do everything, lol).
Knitting scarf for niece.
Anyway.
Recently watched:
Inkheart: reading the book now, to see how it compares to the film. The film was pleasant, couple of entertaining hours, Paul Bettany's character (Dustfingers) was eminently lickable and the slash inclined among us would have no problems in finding subtext to play with, between him and Silvertongue/Mo (Brendan Fraser) and even the Very Evil Capricorn, aka Andy Serkis in brilliant form.
Transformers: I gave up after a hour of film and dozed off, sorry. I liked the big 'bots lots and would be happy to read human/'bot combos and variations, but was headachey already and so...(alos liked whatshisname from TV series Vegas, btw).
Ong-Bak: coool. Basic revenge story, but lots and lots of crazy martial arts fighting. Great fun *nods*
If I were up to it, I'd organize a Krycek-fest. Been wanting one for a while. Anyone willing/interested in participating/organizing/providing ideas?
ETA forgot! and yet it did make a BIG impression: Way of the Gun (with Benicio Del Toro and Ryan Philippe)...ohhh, the subtext there! A sort of modern remake of Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid, in more ways than one, with a great James Caan too! One I will want to rewatch :)

bullet points, 'cause
Nov. 24th, 2008 01:46 pm- Jade Pinkett Smith: clever, smart, charming, intelligent and beautiful
- snow! yesterday, lots of it (by my standards, anyway): made snowmen. Will post pics. Be merciful.
- sunny today: good
- things to do: too many
- latest Temeraire, YAY! MORE MORE! :)
- Jeff as Denny Duquette: always a Good Thing.
- GA's storylines: crappy and just...crappy. Retconning/repeating yourself much, GA's writers?
- SPN: if GA gets a corporeal ghost...WHY CAN'T YOU!?! I can't believe Jeff's price is so high now, but it's either that or lack of inventiveness (yes yes, Apocalypse, Angels vs. Demons, yadda yadda yadda. I liked it better before. I do like Castiel, but I am not as excited about it as I used to be. And I like both Ruby and Anna, which segues into:
- Anna's sex scene: GOOD. Wasn't at all awkward for me. I think people perhaps found it awkward because there was no tongue.
- GA: whathisname! From ROME! YAYYYY!!!
- RL: crappy, but nothing new, just me being all grumpy.
More later.

Quick and Random and Dirty
Sep. 25th, 2008 08:01 pmOf the I Am Not Really Here type of post....
...Kings of Leon are three brothers and a cousin of theirs. I may have watched the vid of Sex On Fire a few times today.
This may have provoked a number of dirty pervy thoughts...erm. Would this be classified as bandom?
I blame SPN. *nods*
Although, Boromir and Faramir are to blame first *nods again*
Uhm. Erm.
*goes back to studying*

Things to Do
Sep. 20th, 2008 04:19 pmWatch History of Metal on MTV2 -- watching it
(it's fairly amusing to realize that Heavy Metal, early Heavy Metal in particular, was growing up as i was growing up, and that my musical taste -as arguable as it is - has been shaped by what my older brothers were listening to at the time, and me, toddling along all innocent-like and only now looking back and seeing it all, heavy metal baby that I was ."..ruuun to the hills....ruuun for youuuur liiiiife..." and Ronnie James Dio coming up with the 'corna' sign that is now heavy metal global ID. from his Italian grandma..lololol and Metallica...ohhhh, Metallica...*sighs happily*:)
Tidy up -- ongoing
the fight between me and ordered chaos started a looooong time ago, but as my mother commented to me last year (she had to re-adjust the stuff I have left home): "You are not messy, everything is organised, there is just too much of it..." *g* hoarding, mois? I collect what I like, keep what I love :)
Read/write for thesis -- not yet today, ops
Laundry -- done
Hoovering-- done
Procrastinating on the web and boring you all with routine daily stuff-- ongoing *g*
Avoiding SPN spoilers -- impossible
There are spoilers everywhere on my f-list, even not clicking, episode title and meta titles have given most of it away...oh well :) what can you do...
General kitchen cleaning -- done
Dragons - checked
ETA: 115 emails/comments to reply to in the inbox *facepalms* ...sorry???? *facepalms again*
ETA2: false eye-lashes are so much fuuuun! hard to put on, but wow, pretty *ggg*
*iz such a grrl sometimes ;)*
Have a great weekend, you all :)
I am:
-eating mango
I have:
-found a number of books/articles that I needed to move forward with thesis chapter
-discussed said chapter with supervisor and set up a number of things to do about it and schedule/deadlines stuff
-walked a lot, feet hurt
-realized tomorrow will be SPN THURSDAY and I won't be able to watch any SPN eps (or TSCC or BN) for MONTHS
...
...
I had:
-a temper tantrum about it
I have:
-no idea how to survive all the posts and comments on my f-list
-reluctantly recognized that this will significantly add to my studying time
....
....
I had:
-an even bigger temper tantrum
I'll go check on my dragons to cheer me up. And watch nonsensical telly. And have dinner. And look at my knitting projects. And will temper-tantrum my way through the evening. *nods*

Sep. 11th, 2008 09:04 pmEvening plan: watch Criminal Minds while knitting, then do some inbox catch up (Mirna! yes!!), then is bed for me. Lots of work to do tomorrow, official statements to write for the thesis extension, notes and thoughts to assemble into a somewhat coherent format.
Why do women insist on taking men out shopping with them? They look ...like zombies, of the not exciting type!!

Things that make today a GOOD day
Sep. 5th, 2008 12:18 pmIn no particular order:
-Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys on the telly
-a wonderful, resourceful f-list of generous, warm, helpful people: I can never be alone with you around
-hearing the voice of someone you care about on the phone
- great coffee and sweet sugary cinnamon pastry
-helping a cute ancient lady to cross the street knowing that one day it'll be me asking for assistance and someone young helping me...hopefully! :)
-considering new ideas (or better, old ideas I had had to set aside)
-catching Antony and the Johnsons in concert on the telly last night
Off to face the inbox. I wish you a gorgeous day, you all. :)
Stuff! Films and..stuff.
Aug. 19th, 2008 03:56 pmRandomly in the past days (week?)
Watched Wall-e. Beautifully done, especially the beginning, which is pretty much the saddest, most heartbreaking scenario I may have ever seen, and it goes on to be okay overall. I am much amused by the studios necessity of making Wall-e a 'male' robot and Eve a 'female' one (the metaphore about the green leaf 'pulsating life' inside of her...not subtle), otherwise we would have robotic m-preg *sighs* /a no-holds barred buddy couple, where the other partner is worth more than the 'DIRECTIVE'...
I enjoyed it but I regret Pixar selling out to Disney.
I just re-watched "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" with Nick Lea. Oh, how gorgeous he is (and good in the part too)...I don't like the film ending as it does! But it's a feast for screencapping and Nick does angst so well :D
VIVIDCON vids are popping up! YAY!
Connotations! Slash con in October in Newcastle, with Gruboid smut!!! And other fun activities and lots of fan chatting ;)
What else...read and posted links in
papawinchester for a few John-related stories. I miss John. I am avoiding spoilers for the new SPN season (mostly) but I'm sorry to say I feel a bit detached from it all.
Work is going so-so and I'm getting irked by the little things. It's sunny outside. Watchmen better win the lawsuit 'cause I want to see it!
Decided to delete the rant I typed about stuff about women. It bored even me and I see no future in which these issues will be solved to any degree. But everything that's wrong in the way women are represented in US telly can be found abundantly represented in Two and a Half Men (irkingly, it's also funny, damn).
I may have had too much coffee today. I'm on a warpath with myself, LOL (always start with the biggest obstacle/enemy, the little ones can be crushed later!). And links were too hard to put in this entry.
Also, I'm reading a Bruce Lee biography. Will need to look for those 60s 70s kung-fu films I grew up with.
*wishes for a dragon to come and fly me away*...
*waits for said dragon*....
...never one around when you need one, uh?
You take care, people :)
ETA: I forgot! how could I? Thanks to
biani mentioning iOffer, I may have accidentally acquired the whole series of Laramie, Garrison's Gorillas and The Quest...erm. *ggg* *hides* old, VERY OLD TV series! Which I loved!

I MUST be STRONG! and Book
Aug. 12th, 2008 11:30 amI will NOT *repeats after self* WILL NOT buy hundreds of pounds of shoes just because they are pretty. Don't need them. No-no. Must be sensible. But they are o'so pretty I could bite my tongue off.
DON'T JUDGE ME!
Look at these!! Bbbbiker Boots (kinda)..
And these, classic!
Girly Pink ones, too *sighs happily* and Kinky ones...and cute buttons ones...
A few things are clear now:
a) I should never be allowed on the web
b) I have a shoe fetish
c) my taste is arguable! I'm impressed by pretty colours and stern shapes
d) DON'T JUDGE ME!
e) I probably have a personality disorder (liking those shoes up there? must be)
f) I have a shoe fetish! don't need them, but...preeeeeetty!!!
g) money has to be used for sensible, useful things. Paying bills *looks at shoes* savings *looks at shoes* qualifications courses *looks at shoes*....
*sighs happily* when I finish the thesis, I will reward myself. Besides, size issues, better always to try stuff first and all that...They pretty anyway :) ***
In other MUCH MORE serious news (but Shoes R SRS BSNZ!)*shushes girly self* I finished reading ANANSI BOYS by Neil Gaiman.
I know his talent has been recognized widely already so I am sort of discovering hot water, but damn what a story teller. I do agree with his own assessment (whether dictated by modesty I can't say, but true nonetheless) that he's no genius, but talented - and I agree, because he does build a great structure of tales inside tales inside tales, and I enjoy it and devour it, but I don't empathize with the characters in his books, there's something missing (felt the same with American Gods), some level of emotional impact...on a scale of 1 to 10 it's still an effing 14 anyway, LOL. *bows to great storytelling*
And off I go to study (and will reply to comments to previous post individually, but a collective heartfelt THANK YOU for your advice/support in the meantime).
*** and youuuuuu, you know who you are, don't youuuuu dare! :)

Randomness.
I quite like it, free fall association, words and images and bad acting on the telly (but hey, at least they are acting, and maybe it was the highlight of their career and electricians, cameramen, props and makeup people paid their mortgage, so, whatever...I can still change channel, right? and here it goes, zip and zapping happily away...)
One of those days, you know, where the small things look huge, Godzilla in a puddle...I once wrote 'poodle' instead and let me tell you, my editor is still laughing and so am I ;) my hero stepping into a poodle was such good crack at that point in the plot line!....and talking about plot lines, how many times have you looked at your own life and see all the plot holes, and the divergences, the ramifications, the possibilities for different storylines, other endings, other beginnings, new characters, deus ex machina opportunities...fascinating, isn't it?
To be a character in your own graphic novel, turn around and tell your artist, "Hey, stop drawing me like this, I don't fancy it...."
I picked up Watchmen again, such a great story, so rich, so multi-layered...I'm looking forward to see the film, not just because of Jeffrey Dean playing the Comedian, but because it'll be something to remember...
I'm happy, grateful, content that Fandom, as fluid as it is, whatever the term defines if anything at all, exists. I know that I never felt quite at Home back in Italy, and it's much easier to feel a stranger and foreigner in another country, but if I could put any citizenship on my passport, I'd put down Fandom in it, because of all the places in the world that I have experienced until now, this way of being, this richness, this pettiness too, this passion, it's where I feel more at Home than any other place.
This brought to you by looking out of the window instead of working on thesis *g*
