More about XFiles incoming movie

biani's LJ here
It's going to be a MotW type of film, nothing to do with the Conspiracy storylines :(
Aka, no Krycek. :(
What a waste, to film in Vancouver and go for the MotW option. It'll be just another sci-fi horror film, of a sort.

XFiles news
Oct. 30th, 2007 01:44 amIf the second XFiles movie is really starting filming in Vancouver on the 10th of December, that's:
a) good news, and
b) a good reason for Gillian to drop out of filming Helen with JDM (although, that meant that for now, Ashley Judd is connected to the project, which is YAY! for me)
c)...I wonder if Krycek could/might be in it! *crosses fingers*
I think there are sides floating around on the usual sites, and also casting calls in Vancouver.

REC: SPN/XFiles snippet by
vaznetti
Dec. 7th, 2006 11:44 amI think some of the Krycek and the Marita's fans on my f-list might be intrigued by this: Supernatural rites to bring back the dead, and what Dean thinks of them. An X-files/SPN snippet - I'd like to encourage the writer to focus on this (and thus procrastinate her yuletide duties some more *evil grin*) wanna help, wanna read? Click on the link:

In the academic articles I've read about the X Files, I haven't found anything related to the Black Oil. Of course, I haven't read ALL the academic article out there, so possibly someone has written about it and I haven't happen across it.
That said, I have a few thoughts about the Black Oil and its semiotic value as a metaphor of alien invasion and the never-ending Matrioska-like conspiracies related to it in the tv series, all based on a series of lies/liars and double agents. If not triple. Up to and including the aliens themselves and traitor amongst them.
The Black Oil is thick, and viscous.
Like mercury, it obviously has a stronger cellular cohesion than water ( I can say that in Italian using the proper terminology. In English, at this time of the night, it sort of escapes me). Therefore, it doesn't expand like water, but it sticks to itself.
It has meaning and intent. A direction. Survival of the species. Like any other living being.
Is it intelligent? Of course, in its own way. Alien intelligence, whose motives and reasoning might escape daily/human logic.
And it's black, the most used color-coding in the Western emisphere to symbolize evil forces.
By covering and taking possession of the eyes of its designated vitim, it forbids sight, ie. light. Symbolically, again, the light of knowledge, of wisdom.
There are all sort of parallels and comparisons and metaphores that can be argued on these basis.
By making his host blind, the Black Oil takes possession of it. By blinding his host, the BlackOil denies him knowledge of his actions. By making the host's eyes black, the Black Oilen hides the host's true identity and personality, making the host unknown and Other to other people's eyes, thus bodily and symbolically 'alienating' the host, biologically and socially.
Like lies, the Black Oil is vomited through the mouth.* Some lies can be sweetly formulated, but their intrinsic nature is certainly repulsive and of rejectable matter. Speech thus becomes impaired. The human race is contaminated by the symbolic ejaculation of the Oil through the mouth - the Black Oil substituting its viscous fluidity to the structural logic of semantics intertwined with speech, and language is identity.
What is left?
Lies.
Duly noted, as per
stupid_cabbage comment :) = the Oilen can pass through nose and eyes, too. It can be argued that it is an additional and supporting element: disgusting material passes through the nose (mucus, snot); and tears through the lacrimal ducts (not disgusting but an expression of intense emotion, unbalance - whether positive or negative).

Project Krycek: Sleepless, S2 ep 04
Feb. 28th, 2006 01:03 amThis is my first post for Project Krycek.
[grabbing and iconing all of the Krycek eps in the X Files, following the illustrious example of
foxestacado's All Seasons X Files Iconage]
Things I have learned:
1) grab judiciously
2) decide on color scheme before-hand
3) make up your mind on variations
4) grab judiciously
I arranged the icons in chronological order as they appear in the episode; when there are more versions of the same icon, I add a letter: 1a, 1b, and so on.
- Feel free to take
- Credit is nice
- If you'd like to add your own text to the textless icons, go ahead, I'd love to see what you make with them :)
- No hotlinking, of course.
Comments, suggestions, questions, criticism, all is welcome :)
It's quite clear, I think, that I have worked on this batch in three phases: you only need to look at the color scheme :)
69 icons plus 18 (textless and/or bases used)

Projects for icons
Feb. 20th, 2006 02:59 pmIn what sounds like a very very pompous way of saying this, I am going to committ myself (publically, so I can't escape from it, otherwise, knowing myself, a thousands other things would intrude) to Project Krycek* and Project Harsh Realm. Both implies grabbing and icon-making, of the Krycek's X Files episodes in chronological order and of the Harsh Realm episodes respectively.
Erm.
See? Now I have to. :)
If you know of communities or LJusers that would be interested, let me know. The point of making, for me, is sharing and learning (from my own mistakes and from crit).

Icon: Miracle Man, XFiles seas. 1 ep. 17
Feb. 19th, 2006 12:16 amI'm following
foxestacado X Files Massive All-Seasons Iconage with great anticipation and visual pleasure at each new installment, mixed with awe for the sheer enormity of her project and admiration for her perseverance.
These are for the Miracle Man, Samuel, appearing in ep. 17, season 1, of the X Files. I always liked this character, I always liked the idea of him being out there, keeping on healing people, but also hiding. I liked his true belief, and his desperation in being abandoned - so it seemed for a while - by God.
I'm experimenting with various things. Advice/comment welcome :)
